the Fliteboard experience

Fliteboard vs Lift Foils: Which eFoil Should You Buy?

Fliteboard and Lift Foils are the two biggest names in premium eFoiling, and if you are spending five figures on a board, you want to pick the right one. We sell and ride both, so here is what actually separates them and which one fits which rider.

The short version

Both are excellent. You will not go wrong with either. Lift invented the eFoil and leans into a quiet, surf-inspired ride with the simplest setup on the market. Fliteboard is the modular, engineering-driven option, with a swappable jet-or-propeller drive and the widest range of boards. If you want the quietest ride and dead-simple assembly, look at Lift. If you want versatility and a board to grow into, look at Fliteboard. The real answer comes from standing on both, which is the whole point of a demo.

Fliteboard at a glance

Fliteboard helped define the premium eFoil category and is known for build quality and modular design. The lineup spans forgiving soft-top learner boards, the ICON all-rounder, and the sharper, more agile PRO, up to the exclusive Marc Newson MN60. Its standout feature is Dual Drive: you can swap between a fully enclosed jet and a traditional propeller in seconds, and add a free-spinning glide prop for riding swell with the motor off. Components are interchangeable, so a starter setup can grow with you. At Miami Beach Marina, our in-stock Fliteboards run from $11,549 for the soft-top boards up to $18,179 for the limited MN60, with the ICON Carbon from $12,000 and the PRO from $11,845.

Lift Foils at a glance

Lift built the first commercial eFoil back in 2018 and still rides with that surf DNA. Its headline feature is the Lift Connect System: tool-free, wire-free assembly in under a minute, and every board ships as a complete, ready-to-ride system. The flagship LIFT5 is marketed as the quietest eFoil made, and the LIFTX is a true hybrid that folds its propeller away so you can surf ocean swell like an unpowered foil board. Our in-stock Lift lineup at the marina runs the carbon LIFTX at $13,999, the signature Florence LIFTX at $14,749, and the flagship Laird 5'2 LIFT5 at $15,999.

How they compare

Setup

Lift's Connect System is the fastest on the market, clicking together in under a minute with no tools. Fliteboard is modular and quick too, but Lift wins outright on pure ease of assembly.

Ride feel and noise

Lift tunes for a quiet, smooth, disappear-beneath-you ride and markets the LIFT5 as the quietest eFoil built. Fliteboard's ride is dialed and refined, and with the enclosed jet it is very smooth as well. If silence is your priority, Lift has the edge.

Propulsion

This is Fliteboard's clearest advantage. Dual Drive lets you switch between an enclosed jet and a propeller depending on how and where you ride, all on the same board. Lift runs a proven direct-drive system with its own enclosed jet option, but Fliteboard's swap-in-seconds flexibility is unique.

Learning curve

Both are beginner-friendly, and either brand will have you riding in your first session. On the Fliteboard side, the soft-top boards are the most forgiving and stable place to start. On the Lift side, the wider, higher-volume Laird 5'2 LIFT5 is a stable, easy learner that still has room to progress.

Wave riding

If riding swell matters to you, the Lift LIFTX is the standout, a purpose-built hybrid that surfs like a traditional foil once you cut the power, and we keep it in stock. On the Fliteboard side, the agile PRO carves sharply and a free-spinning glide prop lets you ride swell with the motor off.

Price

They land in the same premium range, but at our shop Fliteboard actually opens lower. In-stock Fliteboards start at $11,549, while the Lift lineup starts at $13,999 for the LIFTX. At the top end both climb into the high teens, the Fliteboard MN60 at $18,179 and the Laird LIFT5 at $15,999. Match construction and battery and neither is meaningfully cheaper than the other.

Which one is right for you?

Want the quietest ride and the simplest setup? Lift. Want one board that does the most, with swappable drives and a range to grow into? Fliteboard. Chasing ocean swell above all? The Lift LIFTX is the standout hybrid. Brand-new or a heavier rider who wants maximum stability? A Fliteboard soft-top or the wide Laird LIFT5 will get you flying fast and forgive the learning bumps.

Try both before you buy

Specs only tell you so much. The way a board lifts, carves, and holds steady underfoot is something you have to feel. AOA Marine is an authorized dealer for both Fliteboard and Lift Foils, with the full lineup in stock at Miami Beach Marina, so you can ride the top brands back to back on the same water and know which one is yours before you spend a dollar. FAQ

Is Fliteboard or Lift better?

Neither is objectively better. They are both top-tier. Lift leads on quiet ride and setup speed, Fliteboard on drive versatility and range of boards. The right one depends on how you ride, which is why demoing both is the smart move.

Which eFoil is best for beginners?

Both brands make stable, forgiving boards, and most beginners are riding in their first session on either. On the Fliteboard side, the soft-top boards are the most forgiving entry point. On the Lift side, the wide, stable Laird 5'2 LIFT5 is an easy learner with room to progress.

Which eFoil is quietest?

Lift markets the LIFT5 as the quietest eFoil on the market. Fliteboard's enclosed jet drive is also very quiet. If noise is your top concern, Lift has the edge.

Can I try a Fliteboard and a Lift before buying?

Yes. AOA Marine is an authorized dealer for both and offers demos on Biscayne Bay out of Miami Beach Marina, so you can compare the two directly before you buy.

How much do Fliteboard and Lift eFoils cost?

Both sit in the premium range. At AOA Marine, in-stock Fliteboards start at $11,549 and the Lift lineup starts at $13,999 for the LIFTX. Top models run into the high teens, up to the $18,179 Fliteboard MN60. See our buyer's guide for the full breakdown.
